Friday Keynote Speaker
February 15th, 5:15PM

Jim McGuinn
Afternoon Host, WXPN Program Director, YrockOnXPN

Joining Philadelphia-based AAA / Non-commercial powerhouse WXPN (88.5, 88.7, and 99.7fm) in 2006 after 10 years programming Philadelphia's legendarily lamented late modern rock outlets (Y100, WDRE), Jim McGuinn is able to apply a lifetime of passion for rock and roll to his daily airshift and his guidance and development of new media alt-indie-modern rock outlet YrockOnXPN.

In a career that stretches back more than 20 years to his high school days when he realized that music would be his life, Jim McGuinn has done just about everything you can in the music business - from a playing in bands ( Cordalene, Wayward Wind, Reaction Formation) to starting indie labels (Manic Pop Thrill, Trashcan Records), producing and engineering albums, booking shows, mixing sound, tour managing, working for labels, management companies, and even clerking at a record store in suburban Chicago back when vinyl still ruled.

Whether interviewing the likes of Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Tom Morello, Spoon, Radiohead, or the Beastie Boys, or teaching classes in Marketing, Radio Management, and Rock and Roll Cinema at Drexel University's Music Industry Program, McGuinn has always been an astute fan of the music, culture, and evolving technology that makes up our changing world. See and hear Jim speak about the Democracy of Technology and what it means to independent artists on Friday, February 15th at 5:15pm from the Radisson Penn Harris Convention Center as one of our keynote speakers for 2008.
